Last night was a good night and fire crews are making good progress on the Round Peak Fire. Bartholomew Park will be closed today while they start mopping up the fire.
Edit: 2900 East will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Please make arrangements to use an alternate route.
Update A boulder was dislodged from the mountain supposedly due to the Round Peak Fire and rolled down the mountain. It traveled between two houses and stopped at someone’s front porch. Thankfully, nobody was injured. Talk about a close call!
Fire crews have been fighting the fire since around 11:00 last night. Today, air support is expected to start fighting the fire around 9:30 am. There are 3 important things you can do to help:
1. Sign up for citizen alerts at springville.org/citizen-alert.
2. Stay out of Bartholomew Park today. Fire crews are using the park and it is closed to the public.
3. Don’t get in the way of fire crews, and don’t fly drones in the area.
Update Air support has arrived! They’re filling up at Bartholomew Park and dumping water on the fire now. Thank you for avoiding those areas while they work. Bartholomew Park will be closed until further notice. Please don’t fly drones near the fire or Bartholomew Park.
We are aware of the fire above Bonneville Shoreline. Utah County and Wildland Fire are aware of it. There is no need to contact dispatch. We will keep you posted.
Update We are monitoring the fire. It is currently a County incident and they are getting resources together as we speak.
SVFD will be watching it. The Fire Chief is aware so rest assured if it comes down the mountain we will be ready.
They are getting air resources ready to hit it first thing in the AM.
